Sunday, Nov. 4 marks the end of Daylight Savings Time. In Colorado, any existing single- or multi-family dwelling offered for sale or lease on or after a specified date, with a fuel-burning heater or appliance, fireplace, or attached garage, must have an operational carbon monoxide alarm and smoke detector within 15 feet of any bedroom. Good thing because poor-functioning HVAC systems could lead to residential Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning; a danger far greater during winter months, when the doors and windows of your home stay closed to keep cold air out, and fireplaces, gas heaters and other fuel-burning appliances are in use.
