A lot of our clients ask us what needs to be done to winterize your cooling system. If you have an air conditioning unit, the process is much simpler, but an evaporative cooler requires much more maintenance, and we recommend having a professional take care of it for you. Your air conditioner can usually be something you take care of on your own, but don’t hesitate to call us for help or additional tips.
· Clear Away Debris: Clearing away debris such as leaves, cobwebs and weeds before the winter months is a good idea to keep your air conditioner unit in top shape for the spring months.
· Install a New Filter in Your Furnace: While winterizing your A/C unit, it is a good idea to change your furnace filter for the upcoming winter months.
· Change Your Thermostat: Make sure your thermostat is switched over to the heat mode rather than the cooling mode. Your furnace will not automatically kick on.
