Ivan Chavez is the Project Lead Technician for Sensible Heating & Cooling, and he shared with us how he feels being a part of the Sensible team and his take on the HVAC industry.
How long have you been working in the HVAC industry?
I’ve been in the HVAC industry for seven years, and I used to be a Project Technician with Rocky Mountain Mechanical Systems.
What drew you to this line of work?
I’m someone who likes to learn a little about everything, so what drew me to Sensible was their work with geothermal energy and their approach to energy efficiency.
Did you have any specific education or training?
I’m EPA Certified, and I’m working on getting my Master Mechanical License, which you’re eligible for after working eight years in the industry.
What is your favorite part about working in this industry?
I like that working with Sensible, we’re doing something different. Our quality of work is impressive and what we do, and how we do it, leaves clients feeling happy with our service.
How do you like being a part of the Sensible team?
Sensible’s a great place to work—there’s trust and understanding, and you can tell everyone cares. And I click really well with the rest of the team.
What excites you about the green energy movement?
The most exciting part about the work we do is the energy piece. We’re moving away from gas and into geothermal energy; we’re headed in the right direction. The more we can use electricity and go solar helps us save the environment.
What would you tell someone looking to join the Sensible team?
This isn’t an easy trade, but it’s rewarding. This is an industry that will teach you everything you need to know.
What do you enjoy doing during your time off?
When I’m not working, I’m spending time with my wife, son, and dog. I’m also a big Colorado sports fan—Rockies, Nuggets, Avalanche, Broncos. And since I’m a Colorado native, I also love fishing and hiking.
