It’s common to have questions about traditional and alternative heating and cooling systems! And we’re here to answer your questions and help you feel confident in your choices. Today, we’re talking all about Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) and what there is to know.
Are Air Source Heat Pumps energy-efficient?
Yes, Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) are both efficient and cost-effective heating and cooling solutions. In fact, they can even work in tandem with solar panels helping to maximize a home’s heating and cooling. They’re a great choice if you’re looking to go green, promote a more green household, or reduce your carbon footprint.
Are Air Source Heat Pumps fully electric?
Some of the systems that we install are fully electric, while others use a gas furnace for backup heat. To take full advantage of any rebates and incentives on ASHPs, you’ll need to replace an older furnace with a new unit and install a heat pump outside, in place of an air conditioner. However, if your existing furnace is less than ten years old, you can choose to add a heat pump. Having backup heat in place is a way for heat to kick on when it gets cold outside to ensure your home stays comfortable all year round. Sensible has fully electric home heat options available, too.
How do Air Source Heat Pumps work?
Air Source Heat Pumps work with different size homes and what they do is they convert cool outside air into warm internal temperatures during the winter, and they convert warm outside air into cool internal temperatures during the summer. Essentially, ASHPs are pulling heat from the air and transferring it elsewhere, in this case, into the home.
How much am I going to save with an Air Source Heat Pump?
There are plenty of ways to save with Air Source Heat Pumps! Not only do ASHPs help to reduce your heating and cooling expenses, but they can deliver up to 3x more heat energy and can be up to 350% more efficient than traditional HVACs.
Additionally, you can save on ASHPs with nearly 30 rebates, rewards, and financing opportunities through our partnership with Xcel Energy, as well as find financing through RENU, a program backed by the State of Colorado.
