The end of the year brings the end of the federal energy tax credit for high efficiency heating and cooling equipment. In order for you to claim your $1500 tax credit you must have your equipment installed and in service by 12-31-10. However, the renewable tax credit which is for sustainable type energy continues through 2016. Geothermal and solar energy falls under the renewable tax credit.
If you would like to take advantage of the federal energy tax credit you must call soon in order to have it installed by the end of the year. At this point there is no talk to bring this credit back so now is the time to replace your old outdated furnace or A/C.
