What Is NATE Certification?

Have you been doing online research to find an HVAC company? Have you come across the term NATE and don’t know what it means? That is certainly the case for most homeowners so we thought we would take some time to explain what it means to be NATE certified.

Here is a little bit about the NATE certification process, why it helps to find a NATE certified technician and things to watch out for while you are doing your search.

  • NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence, and is the national certification process for HVAC contractors in Canada and the United States.
  • NATE involves a certification exam to ensure that contractors are professionals in one or more specialty areas.
  • Certification is not a requirement to perform HVAC services.
  • Not every contractor who is not certified is unreliable, but it can be comforting to know that your technician has gone through the process of certification and testing to make sure their skills are top-notch.
