Improving The Air Quality of Your Home

Every year around this time, we start getting a lot of questions about humidifiers, filters and other air quality issues that people are dealing with in their homes. With the allergens and pollution in the air, keeping the air in your home cleaner can have a big impact on the health of your family. So what exactly do we offer, and how can it help you?

  • Humidifiers: One of the most important and helpful things you can have in your home is a whole-house humidifier that will help the humidity of the air in your home. We all know how dry the air in Colorado can be, especially in the winter months, and adding a humidifier is a reasonably-priced way to help reduce viruses in the home (many viruses thrive in a low-humidity environment), increase the comfort of your family by reducing allergy and asthma symptoms as well as dry skin, and also help keep your wood floors from cracking and looking worn. A humidifier is controlled with a humidistat that is similar to a thermostat, and will be installed near the furnace. The humidifier pads need to be replaced approximately every two years.
  • Upgraded Filters: Upgrading your furnace filter is a great way to reduce allergens and pollution in your home. We have a lot of different options and price levels for filters, and depending on your family and their needs, we can make a recommendation on what filter will work best for your home and what you would like to invest. You should always change your furnace filter every three months, and most of these filters are no different.
  • UV Lights: One upgrade that some clients like to help combat cold and flu season is a UV light. UV lights are fairly expensive, yet very effective for combatting germs in the home. The light is installed into the HVAC system, and it also helps control mold growth, which is very good for those with asthma or allergies. They do need to be replaced about once a year, but clients who have installed them are very happy with the results.
