A lot of homeowners that we meet with complain about hot and cold spots in their home. Although it can be a difficult issue for us to resolve completely, there are a few things we can do to help even out the temperatures in your home and increase the overall comfort.
· Forced Air Zoning Systems: Forced air zoning systems work by installing dampers in your ductwork that open and close as needed based on each zone’s thermostat control settings. When a zone doesn’t need heating or cooling, the damper closes to save energy and maximize comfort elsewhere in the home.
· Hydronic Zoning Systems: Hydronic heat systems or radiant floor systems use hot water and steam to create heat. Modern systems can use cast-iron radiators, baseboard radiators, or radiant in-floor heating. These systems are easily divided into zones for perfect comfort.
· Upgraded Programmable Thermostats: Using programmable thermostats to help keep your home at the perfect temperature for the right time of day can save energy and increase’s your home’s overall comfort. This will help decrease some of the hot and cold spots in your home as well. Having a professional program your thermostat is a good idea to maximize comfort and energy savings.
