Help Spring Allergies With This Simple Trick

Spring is in the air and for a lot of people
that can mean that their allergies are kicking up. If you are suffering from
allergies right now you may want to consider changing the type of filter you
use for your HVAC system.

Most likely the type of air filter that you
use in your home for your furnace and air conditioner is made out of a sort of
paper or even fiberglass. These filters are inexpensive and need to be replaced
every 3 or so months. What you may not realize is that these disposable filters
only trap dust and other particles that would otherwise clog up your heating
and cooling system. The cheaper, throw-away filters don’t help to really clean
the air in your home. If you are interested in having less dust, dirt and
allergens in your home you may want to think about upgrading to an
electrostatic air filter.

An electrostatic air filter works slightly
different than your typical air filter. A charge is actually built up within
the filter between the fiber layers. This charge in the electrostatic filter actually
attracts the dust particles in the air in your home and collects them within
the filter.

We recommend using electrostatic filters
because they can catch up to 10 times the amount of dust, dirt and allergens
found in your home as compared to a more traditional air filter. Using an
electrostatic filter will improve the quality of the air in your home and can
help ease the pain of spring allergies for you and your family.

Don’t forget that electrostatic filters are
permanent – you don’t throw them out like you would a disposable filter. You do
however have to wash them out. We recommend washing them every 1 to 3 months
and a full replacement every three years.  (And remember to let the filter dry completely
before reinstalling it into your system.)
