Most of Colorado woke up to inches of snow to start off this week. (This came only a day from 70+ degree weather.) Not that unusual for us for this time of year.
However, if you perhaps already started running your air conditioner when we had some of those warm afternoons, you are probably turning your thermostat back over to the furnace setting. Although it may seem strange to flip back and forth for a few weeks, have no fear. Your heating and cooling system is up to the challenge. You won’t hurt your air conditioner or your furnace by switching from one to the other during the springtime.
However, we do have one tip to share with you. Don’t forget that it doesn’t matter if you are running your air conditioner or your furnace. The air goes through your furnace just the same. This means that you need to make sure that the filter on your furnace is clean and that you are changing it regularly. This will help both in the heating and the cooling of your home. Your units will be able to run more efficiently and you will save money on your energy bills.
Once we get into the warm temperatures consistently and you are no longer using your furnace to keep warm, don’t forget to tune up that air conditioner!
