At Sensible Heating & Cooling, it’s no secret that we are an environmentally-conscious company. On February 9, 2018, Congress passed an extension of the Geothermal Tax Credits into law. The new legislation is retroactive to January 1, 2017 and will remain in effect January 1, 2022. The legislation specifically states that as long as the project commences by this date, it will be eligible for the tax credit.

The tax credit for homeowners is 30% until 2020, when it will then drop to 26%, then to 22% through 2021.

Some reasons to consider geothermal besides the tax credits include:

  • Reduced carbon footprint
  • Energy bill savings
  • Increased re-sale value for your home
