Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

Clean-Breathing for All

If it looks as though you’ll be spending more time at home over the next few weeks, consider pre-emptively taking measures to purify the air within your home. We’ve gathered a few of our favorite industry tips and tricks for clean-breathing; see them below. And remember, at Sensible Heating & Cooling, we always offer complimentary consultations to determine cost-effective, efficient residential HVAC systems right for your home.

Clean-Breathing within Our Homes

  • Humidifiers: Whole-house humidifiers are true ring-leaders in the quest for cleansing indoor air. They’re a reasonably-priced way to reduce seasonal viruses, allergies and asthmatic symptoms, as well as dry skin. Bonus: They help to keep wooden floors from cracking and looking worn. Installed near your home’s furnace and controlled with a humidistat (similar to a thermostat), humidifiers require little maintenance, but pads do need to be replaced every two years.
  • Filters: Upgrading your furnace filter is a simple way to reduce allergens and pollution inside your home. Not all filters are created equally; they range in price and quality. At Sensible, we’ll help you to pick the filter that works best for your home and pocketbook. For optimum efficiency, no matter the furnace filter you select it should be replaced every three months.
  • UV Lights: Although fairly expensive, UV lights an extremely effective at combatting germs and mold known to lurk within homes, especially those linked to cold and flu season. Lights are installed within the HVAC system and require replacement once a year.
