So, perhaps you are hoping to switch to Geothermal. The first question you probably have is: When is the best time to make the switch?
Well, making a switch to Geothermal is going to provide an instant reduction in your carbon footprint and energy bills. So, anytime is a good time to switch! However, we recommend not switching over to Geothermal in the winter. You see, the digging that is required to install a Geothermal system is much easier to complete when the ground is softer. So, we do most of our Geothermal installations in either the fall or spring. Here is something else to consider: If you have Geothermal installed in the fall you can enjoy much lower energy bills instantly during the winter months. (The same goes for a spring installation and the savings you can expect during the summer months.)
Another thing to consider when timing your Geothermal installation is the current year’s tax credits and rebates from Xcel. For 2013 a homeowner can receive a sizeable tax credit and a rebate making the new system more affordable than ever. There is always a chance that next year’s credits and rebates won’t be as high so there is no time like the present!
