We have recently had several customers who have expressed interest in ductless air conditioners, so we thought we would spread the word about this creative solution for cooling AND heating your home. Ductless air conditioners, also called mini-split systems, work by mounting one unit to the outside of the home and one unit on the inside. If you don’t have insulated ductwork in your home, ductless air conditioners are a great option. They have an advantage over a traditional window unit because they have a thermostat that can be regulated (no more all-or-nothing cooling!), they don’t have to be moved in and out depending on the season, and they don’t require leaving a window half open all summer.
Ductless Air Conditioners as Heating System
You can also get extra credit points for creativity by using ductless air conditioners for both AC and heat. You can install a ductless AC with heat strips to provide spot heat to specific areas of your home. This can be energy efficient because you don’t have to heat the whole house at once, and it is definitely a better solution in comparison to ripping out walls and ceiling to install ductwork for forced air heat.
