“Green” Hype Will Soon Be History

But don’t worry because sustainability will survive. No really though, there are many aspects to sustainability and the area that I am most helpful with is home energy use. The idea is to lower home energy use enough so that you can reproduce it without affecting your normal life style. One of the best ways of cutting home energy use is by upgrading to a high efficiency heating and cooling system. A couple examples of this are:

1. Adding an air-source heat pump.

2. Retrofitting your current system to a geothermal heatpump.

Electric baseboard heaters gave electric heating a bad name because of how inefficient they were but times have changed and now with the use of a refridgeration cycle, electricity is very efficient.

Option1 which is the airsource heatpump removes energy from the outdoor air and moves it to your indoor air. Whats neat is that there is a whole lot of energy in 25 degree air and we can capture it.

Option 2 the geothermal heat pump is even more efficient then the air-source heat pump because it gets its heat from the ground. The ground is consistently warmer during cold snaps and the warmer the source the more efficient the heat pump is in heating mode.

These options are great when used with solar PV arrays. Talk to you later.
