Geothermal Heat Pumps: A Fantastic Alternative Energy System
Sensible Heating & Cooling has extensive experience in this alternative energy system that is gaining popularity in Colorado. Though geothermal heat pumps are newly popular, they are actually based on the same technology as your refrigerator! A refrigerator removes heat from the food you put in it and moves that heat to the outside of the fridge just as a geothermal heat pump removes heat from the ground and moves it into your house. This relatively simple system can heat and cool your house at a fraction of the normal cost of traditional systems.
Can a geothermal heat pump cool your home?
Yes, a geothermal system can cool your home as well (meaning no need for two separate systems, as in the traditional furnace/AC model). We install an outdoor coil that captures the heat from the air just as it does when it warms your house. However, when the warm air meets the indoor coil’s extremely cool refrigerant, the heat gets absorbed so quickly that the air loses all humidity, which condenses outside of the coil. A fan then pushes that cool air into the ducts. The result? A comfortable temperature in your home throughout the hottest days of the year.
Is geothermal a good fit for you?
Ask yourself these questions:
- Would you like to see a sharp decrease in your energy bills?
- Are you interested in decreasing your overall carbon footprint?
- Are you building a new home and want it to have the most cutting-edge, energy efficient heating and cooling system?
- Or is your system already in need of replacement? Many existing homes can be retrofitted with geothermal systems.
Is your answer yes? We would love to come out for a complimentary consultation on whether your home is ripe to make the switch to geothermal energy.
As Colorado’s leading geothermal experts, we can help you with new geothermal systems, retrofit geothermal systems, or any other alternative energy needs you may have.
