When It Comes To Water Heaters, Go Tankless!

One of the services that we offer at Sensible Heating & Cooling is water heater installation and maintenance. While we offer a wide variety of water heater options, we have been having conversations with our clients about tankless water heaters lately. People often have questions about how they work, if they would really notice a difference in hot water supply in their home and if they can expect to see a decrease in their energy bills. Here is a basic overview of tankless water heaters:

Tankless water heaters provide almost unlimited hot water for your home.
Tankless water heaters heat water directly without the use of a tank. When hot water is called for, cold water travels through a pipe into the unit and is heated using a gas burner or an electric element.
As with a traditional water heater, you can stretch a tankless water heater by using too much hot water in the house (such as taking a shower and running the dishwasher), but typically they are a good choice for most households. You can also install more than one unit to avoid running out of water.
The cost of a tankless water heater is quite a bit more than a traditional water heater – sometimes as much as $1,000 more.
Most homes will see a pretty significant energy savings by installing a tankless water heater, sometimes as much at 50% over the course of the first year.
Xcel Energy offers a rebate if you have a tankless water heater installed in your home – up to $200!
